About Us

Calvary is a cross-section of the community, a mix of young and old, singles and families. We embody a diversity of interests, activities, and seek fellowship and growth within an Episcopalian environment. We really mean it when we say “All are Welcome”!

We have weekly Sunday Service in person at 9:00am, with nursery care available for those who may be too young to sit through a full service. We also offer Sunday School for grades Pre-K through 8th during our 9am service. Each week, fellowship follows the service with coffee and light refreshments. Sunday service is streamed on our Facebook Page.

Calvary offers the Daily Office of Morning Prayer, Mondays-Fridays. This brief service (15-20 minutes) is rooted in Anglican tradition and helps strengthen your faith and prepare you as you begin your day. Whether you pray with us at church or online through Facebook, there’s a deep sense of praying with other Christians throughout the world. Morning Prayer is also streamed on our Facebook Page.

Calvary’s robust ministries offer opportunities to serve our local community through our Outreach ministry and Youth Group, such as our Thanksgiving Drive, Angel Tree, and Souper Bowl of Caring. Read more about our outreach and other ministries here.

Nursery Care is provided during Sunday Service for infants and toddlers from 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM. It is most appropriate for infants and children who are unable to sit through a church service. The children are brought into the church to receive communion.  Children are welcome to remain with their parents in church and are not required to go to the nursery.

Miss Shannan, our trained nursery professional, will provide quality childcare with Godly play during the time of worship.

Sunday School is offered for those in grades Pre-K through 8th. Our dedicated teachers, Miss Lynn, Miss Kay, and Miss Sharon, have been longtime parishioners of Calvary.

We offer a one room school format using the all-in-one Sunday School curriculum by Lois Keffer and Group Children’s Ministry Resources.

Vestry

The vestry of a congregation in The Episcopal Church consists of elected parishioners. The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances.

What is the Episcopal Church?

Shield.png

We embrace both Catholic and Protestant expressions of faith. The Episcopal Church in the United States belongs to the Anglican Communion, a worldwide Christian body of about 80 million members. Historically our roots lie in the Church of England, also known as the Anglican Church. As Episcopalians, we are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person.

The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and traces its heritage to the beginnings of Christianity. Our liturgy retains ancient structure and traditions, and is celebrated in many languages. We welcome men and women, married or celibate, to be ordained as bishops, priests, and deacons. We believe in amendment of life, the forgiveness of sin, and life everlasting. Lay people exercise a vital role in the governance and ministry of our Church. Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians, not only members of the Episcopal Church. We uphold the Bible and worship with the Book of Common Prayer. We affirm that committed relationships are lifelong and monogamous. Episcopalians also recognize that there is grace after divorce and do not deny the sacraments to those who have been divorced. We affirm that issues such as birth control are matters of personal informed conscience. We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion. All are welcome to find a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church.
